Welcome to the DBSA La Palma, formerly DBSA Cerritos. If you are visiting our site, it's probably because you are looking
for help with bipolar or clinical depression. We are here to help!
Our Mission
Our mission is to educate the public about the nature of depressive and manic depressive illnesses. We try to foster self-help
for patients and their families. Our group believes that mutual support is vital to a lifetime of wellness.
As a group, we may discuss medication issues as they relate to people in general. A physician or other healthcare professional
should answer specific questions about individual needs and use of medications.
To assure each person gets the most out of the group, we have established guidelines each person needs to follow:
- We prefer that all members be under the care of a psychiatrist.
- Everyone gets time to share about themselves and their issues. The moderator will ask the person sharing if they wish
group feedback. Group members are asked to withhold any comments until the moderator does this.
- The group is not intended as a forum to complain about life’s financial, marital, legal or social problems. We understand
that all people go through such trying times in their lives, but the focus of the group needs to remain mood related.
- Anyone who is disruptive in the group will be asked to leave.
- We maintain trust by respecting the confidentiality of our meetings. Members have the right to remain anonymous.
During meetings, group moderators may prompt or redirect the person sharing in order to keep them focused. This is not
considered feedback.
